2011 Silent Auction Success!

Imagine winning an autographed jersey from Phillies’ great Cliff Lee! Or a week’s vacation in Williamsburg, Virginia! Or even an Amazon Kindle, handmade quilt or elegant jewelry. These items and more will be available at the annual Face to Face Silent Auction Benefit and Reception. Friday, March 25, 2011 at Ancillae Assumpta Academy in Wyncote, PA. All proceeds benefit the work of Face to Face Germantown, serving the local community since 1980.

Face to Face provides the people of Germantown with the basic needs so many of us take for granted such as a nutritious meal and positive social interactions. The organization also provides health counseling servics, legal counsel, social services, art classes, and after school programming to our local neighborhood – all free of charge. “As a nonprofit organization, we rely on the support of the Greater Philadelphia community to drive our efforts,” says Pat Harrington, Face to Face Board Member and Chair of the Silent Auction Event. “Face to Face Germantown is a unique non-profit community center that has been built on not only hospitality, but mutual respect and dignity for those we serve for a truly transformative experience. At our annual Silent Auction, you will have the opportunity to be involved in changing the lives of our neighbors in need—and take home some nice gifts for you and your family!”

Film, TV, and theater actor Eoin O’Shea will be the emcee on March 25. O’Shea is a Philadelphia native who performs with the touring company Second City.  He studied with The Groundlings (LA), is a member of Philly's ComedySportz, and co-founded the spontaneous theater group, Tongue & Groove. Eoin performed with The Second City in The City of Nutterly Love in Philly and appeared in M. Night Shaymalan's The Happening.

April 2009
We had a House Party...and what a party it was!

One beautiful Friday evening last Spring,  Face to Face hosted our Annual House Party and Silent Auction. This year's event was even more exciting and meaningful than those of previous years.  Along with the wonderful selection of auction items donated by many generous supporters, and the fantastic food prepared by our own Andrea Lemoins, Maureen McGarrity and Barbara Keeney,  this year's festivities also honored the 20 years of selfless and noble service of our retiring Executive Director, Eileen Smith.  Eileen is justly credited with giving birth to our organization as it stands today.  During her tenure Face to Face grew from a little known soup kitchen to a safe haven for all the citizenry of Germantown and surrounding areas.

We will ever be grateful to Eileen for giving us so much for so long!  Not only Germantown, but truly the world is a better place because of her.

We are looking forward to next year's party scheduled for Friday, April 9th.  SAVE THE DATE!

And then, on May 15th there was our Neighborhood Arts and Writing Show...!

Every Friday morning all year long, Susan Wilson and her small but dedicated and talented staff lay out paints, markers, art and construction paper, writing tablets, pens and pencils, and any other available materials that might stimulate the creative juices of her group. From these ordinary, everyday supplies come the most extraordinary pieces of art and writing - sometimes unusual, sometimes unique, sometimes quixotic but all the time rare and truly wonderous!

This year's show attracted over 100 guests who were surprised, entertained and greatly moved by the show's contents.

Thank you, Susan, and all who so generously share your marvelous and incredible talents with us!  We look forward to the 2010 Show!
