Family Liaison

Job description:

The Family Liaison (FL) is a full-time position and reports to the Program Director. In 2018, Face to Face, in partnership with Mercy Neighborhood Ministries, opened a preschool to provide 60 children from families of limited economic means with high-quality, early childhood education to set children on the path to success. The FL will work with these families to ensure they have the resources to successfully manage their child’s education beginning in kindergarten and improve their overall quality of life by connecting them to Face to Face services and community resources. The FL will also develop relationships with high-quality area schools to connect families to educational opportunities for their children.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Engage the families of preschool children to build trust and connections
  • Connect families to other Face to Face services, including dining services, the health clinic, legal center, and social services to empower these families and increase stability for their children
  • Act as the primary point of contact for families of children enrolled in Mercy Neighborhood Ministries at Face to Face’s preschool and coordinate care with the program directors
  • Maintain up-to-date confidential client records in program database
  • Conduct regular in-school observation and home visits to monitor stability
  • Support families through the application processes for kindergarten
  • Establish and sustain partnerships with high-performing private, charter, and public schools, particularly focusing on elementary schools, within Philadelphia to enable a seamless admissions process for children enrolled in Face to Face’s preschool program
  • Cultivate a relationship with the Children’s Scholarship Fund and assist parents in applying to the Fund for scholarship aid for their child’s education
  • Develop and implement classes to prepare families for kindergarten which cover parenting, school requirements, and tips on advocating for their child within the system, etc.
  • Maintain relationships with families throughout the children’s school experience through high school and provide support as needed
  • Engage families in creative family activities including but not limited to fresh market, physical activities, and possible outings
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements:

  • Previous experience with at-risk youth and families of limited economic means
  • Understanding of the unique challenges facing low-income families
  • A non-judgmental, flexible, and professional attitude with all including children and families, colleagues, volunteers, school administration, or outside agencies
  • Strong communication and collaborative skills, including the ability to form and sustain trusting relationships with children, families, school administrators, and fellow professionals
  • Bachelor’s degree required, degrees in psychology, social work, counseling, sociology, education, or a related field preferred
  • Computer skills, including experience with data entry, case documentation, Microsoft, and email
  • Prior knowledge of the Philadelphia region is a plus

Assistant Sous Chef

Job description:

The Sous Chef, under the immediate supervision of the Director of Food Services, will work with the program staff in the preparation, packaging and serving of meals. This individual will be able to handle daily high-volume production and organization while also managing and training 8-10 volunteers on basic cooking skills and food safety. They should be motivated to work with the Director of Food Services to elevate the recipes/menu. They will also assist in the cleaning and organization of all food preparation, dishwashing, food storage and food service areas.

Hours: 35-40 hours/week

  • Each Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and all major holidays: 8am-3pm
  • ** COVID 19 schedule Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Monday 8AM – 3PM

Principle duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist our Director of Operations/Food Services in creating seasonal menus for up to 220 people each Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and all major holidays. **
  • ** COVID 19 schedule Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Monday 8AM – 3PM

Job Responsibilities:

  • Daily production of all menu items for distribution and congregate meals
  • Prepare all food items according to predetermined recipes
  • Ensure that all deliveries are properly received and stored Communicate any product shortages or issues to the Director of Food Service
  • Ensure food safety and sanitary standards are always maintained to the highest level
  • Ensure menu items are properly presented, portioned, and served during congregate meal service
  • Assist Director of Food Service in maintaining a daily food use log
  • Assist in maintaining clean and organized food preparation, service, and storage area
  • Ensure that all dishwashing areas are clean, organized and maintained throughout the day
  • Work closely with program staff to ensure meal safety, packaging and storage standards are met
  • Assist the Facilities/Operations Manager with monthly inventory of food, paper, and chemical supplies
  • Attend and participate in all Dining Room and Staff meetings
  • Adhere to all Face to Face policies and standard operating procedures
  • All other duties not assigned/listed may be required as needed

Job Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • At least 2 years of professional cooking experience is preferred. Other cooking experience in combination with the successful completion of a culinary training program will be considered
  • Food Handlers Certificate (ServSave)+
  • Strong understanding of good food safety practices
  • Ability to use basic kitchen utensils and equipment
  • Ability to follow recipes
  • Good verbal and communication skills
  • Ability to be flexible, work well under pressure and follow directions
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time

Social Worker

Job description:

Face to Face, Inc. is a comprehensive human service organization in the Germantown section of Philadelphia. Face to Face serves hundreds of people in need each year through its Dining Room, Health Center, Social Services Program, Legal Center, Arts Program, and “washeteria.” Through an approach of hospitality, mutuality, and transformation, we provide a safe environment and practical tools through which our clients can confront personal challenges, empower their lives, and fulfill their unique potential.

Face to Face’s Social Service Center provides high quality social services to low-income people in the greater Germantown section of Philadelphia. Clients are referred to the Social Service Center through local churches, state representative offices, community organizations and others.

This is a 30 hour per week position. This position includes intake of clients on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10:00-2:00pm. The remaining hours will consist of appointments, phone calls and documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee each step of the Social Service Center’s direct services with clients.
  • Refer clients to other programs within Face to Face for a wholistic approach to services.
  • Work with the Program Director to develop budgets.
  • Be able to delegate certain tasks to the case aide to ensure client needs are met.
  • Collaborate with external agencies to promote the services of Face to Face and develop relationships with these agencies to ensure client’s needs are met.
  • Knowledge of available resources within the city of Philadelphia.
  • Assess and interview clients to determine individual client needs and complete SDOH on each client.
  • Review and analyze data in the Apricot system and develop strategies for program improvement based on data.
  • Track client outcomes.
  • Help organize projects of the Social Service Center such as coat and toiletry distribution and the ID program
  • Engage families of Mercy Neighborhood Ministries.
  • Enter and maintain data on each client and submit monthly reports.
  • Attend monthly staff meetings and the organization’s annual retreat.
  • Participate in Face to Face fundraising activities such as Turkey Trot and annual auction.
  • Be an active member of any Face to Face assigned committee such as DEI, COVID task force or other newly formed committees.
  • Supervise undergraduate degree students.
  • Any other duties needed to help drive our vision, fulfill our mission, and abide by our organization’s values: Hospitality, Mutuality, Transformation

Qualifications:

  • The Social Worker should have a Bachelor’s in Social Work, Sociology, Counseling or other related degree; Master’s level preferred. The candidate must possess excellent oral, written and presentation skills. Candidates for this position must have strong organizational and interpersonal skills, be able to work with diverse populations, and work creatively with limited resources. In addition, the ability to develop working and professional relationships in the social service community, as well as in the healthcare and legal communities, is critical. The most critical component of position is the ability to listen with empathy and compassion.
  • The Social Worker reports to the Director of Programs and is responsible for working with the Director of Programs to fulfill annual program objectives.
